    We use Silver in all our Rectifier Diodes.

    What you guys have to consider is temperature. Gold grows resistant to electric current at a slower rate than copper. This means that at higher temperatures Gold conducts better than copper. I don’t have any good data here to determine exactly when it does, though, but imagine not using something that is highly influenced by heat in a CPU for example.
    In any case, silver is probably the best conductor among the pure elements under most circumstances.

    The alchemists used to call that mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid Aqua Regia (royal water), as it was the combination of the 2 acids which dissolved gold, and not each acid separately. Pretty cool!

    @ouivalerie copper may conduct better than gold i dont know if its true or not but i do know copper reacts very strongly with air. who wants their processor rusting. gold on the only hand is totally inert. doesnt react with air, water, nothing you may get in there.

    @ouivalerie
    I work in the industry, and it’s true. But initially gold was used because it does not oxidize, where as copper does – and quickly. A spot of copper touching a silicon chip in the wrong place renders it useless. But now the process has matured and copper has replaced gold in most of the process. But there still is gold used because some parts of the IC are vulnerable to oxidation damage.

    looking up conductivity of metals they say Copper conducts far better than gold, how can we do our own tests on this because, it’s time for the truth.

    dammit, i should get some of the processor at my workplace that doesn’t work anymore and get the gold off of them, and carry around a block of gold LOL

    gold actually conducts better. hi end electronics like say…..the nasa space shuttle use gold solder for the components.

    Durability – copper corrodes and gold does not. With very tiny circuits, a tiny bit of corrosion will break the circuit.

    How come copper conducts so much better than gold and they want to use gold in electronic parts?

    the problem is how they get rid from the wasted cynide and the acid solution. They might get the gold but the waste still very harmfull to environment.

    You can buy it locally from any chemical supplier in one gallon, or two liter containers. But you must mix it yourself do your research on which ones NOT to mix. because you will make hydrofloric acis and only bees wax can contain it. OIt will burn through everything including the floor and glass. Good luck
